A little history
The justice of the seigneury of la Baudière in Pacé was exercised in the lower hall of the auditoire of the présidial de Rennes in the village of Pacé. During the French Revolution, at the beginning of March 1793, disturbances broke out in a great many places across France, in reaction notably to the mass levy, decided by the Convention nationale, of three hundred thousand men, drawn by lot from among unmarried men or widowers aged 18 to 25. On 17 March, a detachment of the Garde nationale de Rennes was attacked at the pont de Pacé by 500 to 4,000 peasants from the surrounding area, depending on the source, armed with muskets, scythes, pitchforks and sticks.
