A little history
Situated at the heart of the pays des Carnutes, a Gallo-Roman town bears the name of Noviomagus. It is a market, a town of fairs, whose archaeological traces are located at Senantes, 4 km away. During the course of the 10th century, the town passed under the suzerainty of the counts of Chartres, and therefore of the counts of Blois-Champagne. It is Hugues de Blois, an elder brother of Eudes Ier de Blois, who recovered the lay abbacy of the abbaye de Coulombs and thus the advowson of the estate situated at Nogent.
