A little history
Roman occupation. Around 1850 to 1855, a tomb was discovered in which subjects of different ages were found, along with coarse earthenware vessels and Roman medallions ranging from Adrien (117 to 148) to Maximilien (286 to 306). Merovingian sarcophagi were also uncovered in the cemetery, beneath the site of the salle d'asile, in front of the église Saint-Étienne. (ref. A. Buhot de Kerser - 1892) In the 12th century, in religious terms, the parish of Nérondes was the seat of an archiprêtré dependent on the archbishop of Bourges.
