A little history
Argent appears to have been established in the 13th century. During the Middle Ages, this commune was under the authority of the house of Sully (or Seuly, with no direct kinship with the minister of King Henri IV). In 1223, Argent and Clémont together formed one single lordship belonging to Guillaume de Seuly. Subsequently, it would be held by the house of d'Albret through the marriage of Marie de Sully, daughter of Louis de Sully and widow of Gui VI de La Trémoille, with Charles Ier d'Albret, comte de Dreux.
