The lands of Mouy appear to have been in the possession of the Sires de Moÿ de Vermandois, who were also lords of the lands of Moÿ in the Aisne. This family has been known since the year 1045. From the 12th century onwards, Mouy was a stronghold dependent on the châtellenie de Mouchy-le-Chatel. In 1459, Mouy is described as a village of 300 hearths, with its heart formed by a church, a château and its outbuildings.
