A little history
The site was used as far back as the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the burial found at the grotte Maillet along with its funerary objects. This fief of the comtes de Toulouse passed, through marriage, to Alphonse de Poitiers, the brother of Louis IX, together with the whole of the marquisat de Provence of which his wife was the heir. In 1253, he had his rights and bans recorded in the celebrated Livre Rouge held at the Bibliothèque Inguimbertine de Carpentras. It mentions the village Castrum de Malbec for the first time.
