Luisant is a French commune situated on the outskirts of Chartres in the département of Eure-et-Loir in the région of Centre-Val de Loire. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Eure and various other small watercourses. The commune has a Natura 2000 site.
A little history
Around 1800, Luisant truly became a commune with the attachment of the hamlets of la Cavée and Vauparfonds. In 1830, there were 700 inhabitants in Luisant. The commune was one of the first in France to have a velodrome, which was inaugurated on 11 May 1896. With its cemented track, its stands and terraces, this velodrome could host major sporting events.
