A little history
The discovery of ancient coins on the territory bears witness to Gallo-Roman occupation. A hoard of 1,111 billion coins attributed to the Riedones was discovered in 1998 at the locality known as Carrefour de Verrières in the forêt de Rennes. The three forests of Rennes, Liffré and Chevré formed a single massif belonging to the dukes of Bretagne. In the 12th century, the duke of Bretagne Conan III appointed a forester of lowly origin in each of the three parts of this forest to administer it. Guillaume de Dézerseul was chosen for the forêt de Liffré.
