A little history
During the Gaulish period, Lécousse formed part of the territory of the Riedones. Remains of Gallo-Roman villas have been found at the lieu-dit Marvaize. A Roman road to Aleth running from Jublains to Aleth passed through the Chemin de la Pierre Blanche and through the chemin des Rochelettes in Lécousse. Between the 5th century and the 10th century the parish was probably called Saint-Martin-des-Champs (that of Laignelet being called Saint-Martin-des-Bois). The parish predates Fougères. In 1143, Lécousse was made up of the bourg de l'Echange (Eschange).
