A little history
Two Neolithic sites have been excavated on the territory of the commune. The one at Rougas yielded axes and adzes, whilst the one at Gassaude, in addition to identical lithic material, produced a bronze axe. This limited prehistoric presence is confirmed during the Roman colonisation. Only a votive altar, in white marble, dedicated to Mars Belado, indicates the presence of a place of worship.
