La Ravoire is a French commune situated in the département of Savoie, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It is a member of Grand Chambéry. An agricultural village until the mid-twentieth century, La Ravoire is today the third commune of the Chambéry conurbation by number of inhabitants.
A little history
La Ravoire lies on an important communication route in the organisation of the regional area. The history of La Ravoire has been shaped over time by that of its hamlets, which became districts as the commune was urbanised, including the Chef-lieu on the hill, with the church, the town hall up until the twentieth century and the boys' school (the building has become the Maison de l'enfance). Around it stood farms with their agricultural land. Le Mollard with its few farms and the château de La Pérouse, taken over and rebuilt by the Comte Costa de Beauregard.
