A little history
The église Saint-Martin de la Fouillouse was a dependency of the abbaye de l'Ile-Barbe in 1183. On their way to Saint-Étienne, the 250 vehicles of the Leibstandarte Waffen SS Adolf Hitler were halted on 23 June 1940 on the route bleue (currently the D1082) to the north of La Fouillouse by barricades built and held at les Perrotins by the GRCA 20, reinforced by the R 40 tanks of the Groupe Franc Blindé Ziégler, which engaged successively 6, then 12, and finally 9 tanks. One French R40 tank was put out of action, as were one anti-tank gun and two German armoured cars.
