L'Union is a French commune situated in the north-east of the département of Haute-Garonne, in the Occitanie region. From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune lies within the Pays toulousain, which extends around Toulouse along the valley of the Garonne, bordered to the west by the hills of the Savès, to the east by those of the Lauragais and to the south by those of the valley of the Ariège and the Volvestre. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Hers-Mort, the Sausse, the Seillonne, the ruisseau de Pichounelle and by various other small watercourses.
A little history
During the retreat from Spain of the Napoleonic troops under the orders of the maréchal d'Empire Soult, the territory of the commune was the scene of fighting between those troops and those of the duc de Wellington sent in pursuit of them, on the fringes of the battle that took place at Jolimont (see bataille de Toulouse).
