Haute-Amance is a French commune situated in the département of Haute-Marne, in the Grand Est region.
A little history
Hortes is a very ancient village and is mentioned in a charter of 886 by which Charles le Chauve confirms several donations made to the bishop of Langres, who is its lord. The village also had lay lords by the name of Hortes, such as Marcellin d'Hortes, who lived in 1140, and his brother Eudes, who were among the first benefactors of the abbaye de Morimond. His son Guy held the fief in 1155. In 1636 the troops of Matthias Gallas ravaged the village of Hortes. The Guerre de Trente Ans left a very sad memory of desolation, and the Croates were still roaming in 1641 on the roads leading to Langres.
