A little history
This text owes a great deal to Joseph Petit, who took part in numerous excavations and examined a very large number of archives. His notes are held at the CREDD'O. We thank him. Excavations carried out in the 1960s and more recently in 1998 and 1999 have made it possible to understand what Graveson was like during that period. Evidence in the form of flint and pottery demonstrates that the territory currently occupied by the commune of Graveson has been inhabited since prehistoric times, but it is from the protohistoric period onwards that a clustering of populations on the Montagnette is recorded.
