A little history
In the 12th century, the abbot of Saint-Lucien de Beauvais, Évrard de Monchy, founded Grandvilliers. In August 1346, Édouard III d'Angleterre stayed in Grandvilliers on his way to the bataille de Crécy. A great fire devastated the town on 2 September 1680, destroying it almost entirely. Eight hundred thatched cottages were burnt down and the church was devastated, with only the south portal remaining (listed as a monument historique).
