Gouvieux is a French commune situated in the département of Oise, in the Hauts-de-France region. Its inhabitants are called the Godviciens.
A little history
At the localities known as 'Le camp de César' and 'Camp de Saint-Leu', an oppidum (47 ha) belonging to the tribe of the Bellovaques was discovered. The site was occupied during the Neolithic, the late Bronze Age and La Tène II. It stands on a promontory spur located at the confluence of the valley of the Oise and the Nonette. A preliminary assessment carried out ahead of EDF works led to the discovery of a new collective burial site from the final Neolithic period at Gouvieux. In the 3rd century AD, a Gallo-Roman villa was constructed around 275, along with other buildings towards the beginning of the 4th century.
