Frouzins [fruzɛ̃s] (in Occitan Frosins) is a French commune situated in the north of the département of Haute-Garonne, in the Occitanie region. From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune lies within the Pays toulousain, which extends around Toulouse along the valley of the Garonne, bordered to the west by the hills of the Savès, to the east by those of the Lauragais and to the south by those of the valley of the Ariège and the Volvestre. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the canal de Saint-Martory, the Ousseau, the Roussimort, the ruisseau de la Saudrune, and by various other small watercourses.
A little history
The successive lords of Frouzins were François Barravi, capitoul in 1324 and 1329, also lord of Villeneuve. In 1472, Antoine Inardi. In 1503, the heirs of Raymond-Arnaud de Belveser. In 1518, Géraud d'Amiel, capitoul in 1496. In 1522, Antoine Ynard. Cardinal Jean Bertrand was lord of Frouzins in 1540, at that time a châtellenie of Muret, in Comminges, in the diocese of Rieux. Jean de Maynial, a lawyer from Toulouse, bought it back from his heirs for 6,000 livres, and built a seigneurial château on the road to Plaisance.
