Located to the south-west of the massif des Alpilles and to the north of the Crau, close to Arles, it is a commune whose economy relies mainly on agriculture (several AOC designations) and tourism (the moulin de Daudet, and so on).
A little history
On the territory of the commune, at mont Cordes, covered galleries or hypogea have been identified. These underground burial chambers are more than 4,000 years old. The grotte des Fées was entirely hewn out and fitted over a length of 45 metres and over a width of two to three metres. On its ceiling, engravings have been identified as signs of a primitive zodiac, and on the back wall a double spiral appears.
