A little history
Originally Flumet was a strategic and military stronghold. It was indeed one of the gateways to the Faucigny, being situated on the borders of the province. The construction of the château most probably dates back to the mid-12th century, shortly before the formation of the fortified town. The town is mentioned in the deed of foundation of the chartreuse du Reposoir, in 1151.
