A little history
Rostaing Gantelmi, baile de Sisteron (1306) and viguier de Marseille (1338), was seigneur d'Eyragues and adviser to Charles II, King of Naples and Count of Provence. In 1309, Robert Ier confirmed to him an annual pension of 40 onces d'or that Charles II had granted him in exchange for the houses he owned in Naples and that his father had given to the noble Bertrand des Baux, Count of Andria and Montescaglioso. In 1331, he attempted in vain to acquire a quarter of the lands of Maillane from Pierre de Bénévent, the court having opposed the sale.
