A little history
Known in 1143 through an act of homage by the comte de Champagne to the duc de Bourgogne, the fief also having as its lord the family d'Ervy, Leterius in the last quarter of the 11th century. But from Henri le Libéral onwards the comtes de Champagne held the entire seigneury. Ervy had two fairs from as early as 1220, one at the Saint-Remi and the other called Sainte-Croix at the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul. The annual number of fairs was increased to four in the 17th century, in addition to markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
