A little history
The region of Dol-de-Bretagne has been inhabited since a very long time ago, as evidenced by the menhir de Champ-Dolent (measuring 9.30 m, it is one of the tallest in Bretagne) which dates from the Neolithic period and is found at the edge of town in the direction of Combourg. The territory of Dol belonged more than two thousand years ago to the Gaulish people of the Redones, then to that of the Coriosolites. During the Gallo-Roman period, it formed part of Gallia Lugdunensis, where the people of the Diablintes are also found. Dol-de-Bretagne became in the 6th century one of the first bishoprics of Bretagne.
