A little history
In 1520, King François Ier, travelling to the Camp du Drap d'Or where he was to meet the King of England, Henri VIII, from 7 to 24 June, in an attempt to seal an alliance between their kingdoms through the marriage of the Dauphin of France to Marie Tudor, stayed for several days at Crèvecœur, welcomed by its lord, Guillaume Gouffier de Bonnivet, seigneur de Crèvecœur and Admiral of France, who had contributed to the organisation of this meeting. After Languedoc, Picardie was, of all the French provinces, the strongest with regard to the wool industry in the 17th and 18th centuries.
