A little history
A preventive excavation carried out ahead of the TGV Méditerranée passing through the commune of Crest was conducted between November 1995 and June 1996 by Jean-Michel Treffort and his team of archaeologists. The excavated site, named Bourbousson 1, located on the right bank of the Drôme, made it possible to identify a Hallstatt settlement dated to the 5th century BC. At this site, which had been frequented since the Neolithic period, the conditions for the development of agriculture were brought to light. These included stone clearances and dry-stone walls delineating fields, as well as cultivation terraces.
