Chindrieux is a French commune situated in the département of Savoie, in the région of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
A little history
The first mention of the commune is a deed dated 9 February 1146, a papal bull by Eugène III, confirming to the Benedictine abbey of Nantua its possessions, notably the priory of Cintriacum. The town of Châtillon is the former capital of the Chautagne. The château de Châtillon was built from the 13th century onwards, with an octagonal tower. It was the centre of the seigneury of Chautagne, the property of the Montluel, the Seyssel d'Aix, the Rambert and then the d'Anglejean-Châtillon.
