A little history
In the gorges de Régalon, whose walls in places reach more than 50 metres high within a passage no wider than one metre, certain caves were occupied from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age, such as that of Puceu. The vallon de Vidauque has likewise yielded traces of prehistoric settlement. However, the earliest site in use was the «Baumo doù Luce», which has been characterised as a Mousterian shelter and dated to 350,000 years ago. During the Phocaean period, trade with the «emporiès» (merchants) of Massalia was flourishing, if the number of coins discovered from that era is anything to go by.
