A little history
The oldest fauna featuring reindeer known in France was discovered here. Medals and Roman antiquities were discovered near the village. The Ager Etelvensis (cartulaire de Romans, 30) included, alongside the commune of Châtillon-Saint-Jean (Drôme), only those of Montagne, Bessins, Saint-Apollinard and Chevrières (Isère). The land was disputed between the dauphins and the religious community of Romans.
