A little history
An Acheulean site yielded knapped nuclei that have been dated to 100,000 years before our era. On the road to Malaucène, near the grange de Marignane, knapped flints from the Palaeolithic period as well as arrowheads and rings from the Neolithic period were found on the same site. On the site of the chapelle Saint-Étienne, a mosaic and a statue of Apollo were unearthed, along with around a hundred furnished graves. Raymond VII de Toulouse, marquis de Provence, gave this fief to Barral des Baux in 1240.
