Bornel is a French commune situated in the département of Oise, in the Hauts-de-France region. On 1 January 2016, it was created under the status of commune nouvelle following the merger of the communes of Bornel (former commune), Anserville and Fosseuse. Its inhabitants are called the Bornellois.
A little history
On 19 June 1944 the battle of Ronquerolles took place, on the boundary of the communes of Ronquerolles, Bornel, Belle-Église and Hédouville, between a small group of French Resistance fighters and the German occupation and repression troops of the Sicherungs-Regiment 6, estimated at 3 battalions, that is between 800 and 1,000 men. Of 17 resistance fighters arrested by the Germans, 11 were shot at L'Isle-Adam and 2 were deported. In 2015, faced with the planned reduction of State grants to communes, Anserville, Bornel and Fosseuse decided to unite in order to maintain these grants for three years and to secure a 5% bonus on the dotation globale de fonctionnement.
