A little history
It is around the abbaye Saint-Florentin, whose foundation was begun in 857 at the instigation of the knight Foulques, seigneur de Bonneval, that the village of Bonna-Valis developed. Foulques de Bonneval entrusted the Benedictine monk Gausmar with the task of constructing the monastery and establishing a religious community. The knight Foulques gave, at the same time, land to Gausmar, so that the community, once established, could have the means to provide for its needs. The abbey, which received relics of Saint-Florentin, martyred in Bourgogne, would take the name of abbaye Saint Florentin de Bonneval.
