The presence of numerous caves and rock shelters in Bédoin and on the mont Ventoux supports the case for ancient occupation of this place. Traces of the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods have been found at certain sites in the commune of Bédoin. Nuclei, flakes, blades and bladelets, scrapers, borers and arrowheads have been collected in abundance at the sites of Terme Roux and des Vendrans. Pieces of lithic industry have been discovered in the combe de Maraval and a serpentine axe at the hamlet of les Baux.
