A menhir dating from the Neolithic period stands along the road leading to Cuguen. The Christianised menhir known as la Pierre Longue, shown on a postcard by E. Mary-Rousselière as being in Bazouges-la-Pérouse, is indeed on its boundary, but on the Noyal-sous-Bazouges side of the Ruisseau du Val des Bouillons. The name Bazouges (thought to derive from a corruption of the Latin word basilica, meaning church or basilica) suggests a Gallo-Roman foundation.
