Auneau-Bleury-Saint-Symphorien is a new French commune created on 1 January 2016, formed by the merger of the communes of Auneau and Bleury-Saint-Symphorien, located in the département of Eure-et-Loir, in the région of Centre-Val de Loire. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Voise, the Rémarde, the Aunay and various other small watercourses. The commune possesses a remarkable natural heritage comprising one Natura 2000 site and two natural areas of ecological, faunal and floral interest.
A little history
The new commune of Auneau-Bleury-Saint-Symphorien was born from the merger on 1 January 2016 of two former communes which became delegated communes, Auneau and Bleury-Saint-Symphorien. Bleury-Saint-Symphorien was itself the result of a new commune, born from the merger in 2012 of the communes of Bleury and Saint-Symphorien-le-Château, which had not been constituted as delegated communes at the time of that first merger. However, the two delegated communes created in 2016 had previously been member communes of two separate public establishments for intercommunal cooperation with their own tax powers, which is no longer possible with the new commune.
