A little history
The site has been occupied since the Neolithic period (caves in the gorges d'Agnielles). There was a Gaulish oppidum (Serres-la-Croix), then a Roman camp (montagne des Eygaux). The town, a property of the comtes de Die, was handed back in the 12th century to the Aix-Artaud de Montauban. In the 11th century, the monastery of Saint-Géraud d'Aurillac established a priory there under the patronage of Saint Géraud.
