The commune of Argentré-du-Plessis lived for five centuries in the shadow of the château of the du Plessis family. The construction of this château dates back to the Middle Ages in its oldest part. It was subsequently modified on several occasions over the centuries. The Plessis family managed to retain this property during the Revolution while the owners had fled to Germany to join the émigrés.
