A little history
Within a radius of 10 km around Seignelay there are six ancient roads, the most important of which became the Via Agrippa de l'Océan, which passed through Héry and les Baudières in the north of the commune of Héry. These roads leave behind a small stone bridge at Venouse. Beaumont, the neighbouring village to the north-west, has strong grounds for being identified as the Bandritum on the Peutinger map, on the pre-Roman road between Autun and Sens passing through Auxerre. The Romans improved several of these roads.
