Sartilly-Baie-Bocage [saʁtiji bɛ bɔkaʒ] is a French commune situated in the south of the département of Manche in the Normandie region, with a population of 2,778 inhabitants. It was created on 1 January 2016 by the merger of five communes, under the legal framework of communes nouvelles. The communes of Angey, Champcey, Montviron, La Rochelle-Normande and Sartilly became communes déléguées.
A little history
Initial discussions had been under way since the spring of 2015 between seven communes around Sartilly. On 16 November, the charter was drawn up between the communes of Angey, Bacilly, Champcey, La Rochelle-Normande, Lolif, Montviron and Sartilly, but the municipal council of Bacilly voted against it (8 votes to 6), as did that of Lolif on 23 November (8 against, 2 in favour, 2 blank). The commune was created on 1 January 2016 by a prefectoral order of 14 December 2015, through the merger of five communes, under the legal framework of communes nouvelles established by law no 2010-1563 of 16 December 2010 on the reform of territorial authorities.
