A little history
The commune was created on 1 January 2016 by a prefectoral order of 23 December 2015, through the merger of four communes, under the legal framework of the communes nouvelles established by law no 2010-1563 of 16 December 2010 on the reform of local authorities. The communes of Angoville-au-Plain, Carentan, Houesville and Saint-Côme-du-Mont became communes déléguées and Carentan is the chief town of the new commune. The project was approved by the various municipal councils on 17 September 2015. On 12 February 2016, the municipal council of Brévands voted unanimously for amalgamation with the new commune.
