A little history
The château, founded in the 10th century and which was the possession of the family de Saint-Sauveur until the 11th century, became one of the most important fortresses in the region. At the beginning of the 13th century, following the marriage of Jeanne Taisson, daughter of Raoul IV Taisson (himself the son of Jourdain Taisson), to Richard d'Harcourt, the family d'Harcourt, one of the oldest families, settled in Saint-Sauveur. In 1345, Geoffroy d'Harcourt, seigneur de Saint-Sauveur, allied himself with the King of England Édouard III and advised the latter, in 1346, to make a landing in Normandie.
