1st January 1973, Le Vaudreuil Ensemble urbain was created from plots of land belonging to eight communes including Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray. 28th September 1981, Le Vaudreuil (formerly the ensemble urbain) was established as a commune. 8th July 1985, the Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray accident occurred when the Le Havre-Paris train struck a lorry at full speed at the level crossing at Saint-Pierre-du-Vauvray, killing 8 people.
