A little history
In 596 the ruling of saint Aunaire, 18th bishop of Auxerre (572-605), included Pourrain (Pulverunus, "dust" in Latin) among the thirty principal parishes of the diocese. It belonged to the cathedral chapter of Auxerre from 820 until the Revolution. In 841, it saw the passage of Louis and Charles, grandsons of Charlemagne, on their way to the bataille de Fontenoy. Then in 1428, Jeanne d'Arc, who had set out to free Orléans from the English.
