Port-Bail-sur-Mer is a French commune situated in the département of Manche in the Normandie region, with a population of 2,520 inhabitants. It was created on 1 January 2019 under the status of commune nouvelle through the merger of Portbail, Saint-Lô-d'Ourville and Denneville.
A little history
The history of the commune is that of the former merged communes. In 2015, elected representatives of several communes from the Communauté de communes de la Côte des Isles, or more precisely from the former communauté de communes de la région de Portbail, began discussions about a commune nouvelle situated between the communes of Port-Bail, Saint-Lô-d'Ourville, Denneville, Canville-la-Rocque, Fierville-les-Mines and Le Mesnil. The project was however deferred owing to the refusal of the inhabitants of Le Mesnil and the withdrawal of Canville-la-Rocque.
