A little history
Situated on the banks of the Seine, at the foot of a plateau covered by forest rich in game, the site of Oissel has been occupied since prehistory. The Gauls and Gallo-Romans left behind roads and a temple there, at the lieu-dit la Mare-du-Puits. Merovingian sarcophagi were also unearthed. The Vikings created a fortress there which they used as a base for their raids towards Rouen and Paris.
