Fécamp is a French commune situated in the département of Seine-Maritime in the Normandie region. A former cod-fishing port on the coastline of the pays de Caux, the commune is located approximately 40 km north of Le Havre.
A little history
An oppidum (a fortified Gaulish settlement) was established at the lieu-dit Côte du Canada, to the south-east of the present-day town. The remains of fortifications built around the middle of the 1st century BC can be seen there, notably those of a rampart of Belgian type. This type of rampart is today known as "Type Fécamp".
