A little history
Robert de Meulan (c. 1046–1118) acquired the honour of Elbeuf-sur-Seine following his marriage around 1100 to Isabelle de Vermandois. On 7 August 1346, at the beginning of the Hundred Years War, the town was ravaged as the English passed through during the chevauchée of Édouard III. In 1657, the annual income of the duché-pairie d'Elbeuf, a possession of the maison de Lorraine, was estimated at 50,369 livres.
