A little history
For several centuries, an annual fair known as the "foire de la Saint-Martin" was held there, drawing merchants to the commune. Its origins, at the initiative of the abbaye de Lessay, date back to the 13th century. It is said to have already been mentioned under Guillaume le Conquérant. In the 11th century, Robert de Mortain gave the tithe of the fair to the abbaye de Marmoutier de Tours. On 24 March 1450, Guillaume Bohon, écuyer, obtained letters from King Charles VII to re-establish the foire Saint-Martin, without success.
