A little history
The name Méziré (or Mesiré, Miserach in German-language records) is cited from 1317 onwards. In 1333, following the death of Renaud de Bourgogne, the fief passed to his daughter Jeanne de Montbéliard. Upon the division of the latter's estate, it was inherited by her daughter Jeanne de Montbéliard-Ferrette, wife of the Archduke of Austria. Méziré, like Morvillars to which it was attached, thus became an Austrian possession.
