Mesnils-sur-Iton [mɛnil syʁ itɔ̃] is a new French commune, formed on 1 January 2016, located in the département of Eure in the Normandie region. It was created from the merger of the communes of Condé-sur-Iton, Damville, Gouville, Manthelon, Le Roncenay-Authenay and Le Sacq, expanded on 1 January 2019 by the addition of the three further communes of Buis-sur-Damville, Grandvilliers and Roman.
A little history
Several communes expressed a wish to come together into a new commune. This project to create a new commune was approved by the municipal councils of six communes, Condé-sur-Iton, Damville, Gouville, Manthelon, Le Roncenay-Authenay and Le Sacq. The prefectoral order of 23 November 2015 officially created the new commune, to be established on 1 January 2016, with its seat set at Damville. By a prefectoral order of 20 November 2018, Buis-sur-Damville, Grandvilliers and Roman joined the new commune on 1 January 2019.
