A little history
In the 11th century, Longueville became a fief of the Giffard family. Gautier II Giffard, lord of Longueville, was the founder and protector of the prieuré de Longueville-la-Giffard. During the first phase of the Hundred Years' War, the seigneurie of Longueville-sur-Scie, which had been given to Bertrand du Guesclin, was claimed by Charles le Mauvais, which the French king Charles V refused. The comté and later duché of Longueville takes its name from the commune.
